Just wanted to share my final picture. I met my goal of finishing in less than a year!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/10368360@N06/4221884751/" title="Quaker Virtues, finished by Laura_1215, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4034/4221884751_6a2ecbc1b6_m.jpg" width="240" height="180" alt="Quaker Virtues, finished" /></a><br /></div>For my next big project I think I'll try using grid lines instead of just the centers. The top right quadrant is my favorite. I added a turtle, as my son requested, and my name and year. I chose to leave out some of the tiny motifs that were repeated. More pictures on my Flickr page. I hope you all are well and busy stitching. Show us some updates when you have a moment to spare.<br /><br />I am officially more than halfway done. I still love stitching this. Working the occasional letter or number of the contrasting color is a great pick-me-up. The lighting always seems to be poor when I get around to taking pictures so it doesn't look as good on screen as it does in person. I didn't like the fabric with my silks. So after a fair amout of thinking, I scrapped my original plan. <br />Take Two on Quaker Virtues - New fabric, main silk the same, accent silk had to change too. I am much more pleased with this combination. Here is the progress for take two.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342109677102248306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq1SfdgQ0Zl7cnmWM031K7bTP6chTn4EDEuKsiQFvAC11KsF3XacWoa0_kZtUVqlTbb2wrjKM3ubVJGJ7adtIPVdF7XXRl8L_SG9w5YF0u1nGlDllRUkjp1wfHmwqWWKYL8p_-vrwaA3Ro/s200/DSC01630.JPG" border="0" /><br />I am now using Sandcastle 36ct by Silkweaver and the silks are Belle Soie - Spring Violets and Lily Pad.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15909135699758725182noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1281862907881411791.post-8560380303643885622009-05-14T06:24:00.000-07:002009-05-14T06:44:47.441-07:00QV, 4 monthsI've been taking a picture on the last day of the month to mark my progress on Quaker Virtues. I am so happy to have found this group of stitchers! A member of the CountedCross Stitchers group at <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/">Ravelry</a> pointed me to Vonna's blog when I lamented how difficult it was to find a picture of a <span style="font-style: italic;">finished</span> Quaker Virtues sampler. Seeing an actual finished object of a project this size is inspirational. Thanks for letting me join in. I love the great pictures and variety of colors you all have chosen.<br /><br />My Quaker Virtues sampler is on 40ct linen with the colors Wood Smoke (Gentle Art) and St Bernard (Crescent Colours). I started on Dec 31, 2008, but I don't have much stitching time each day so I expect you all will finish before me. Here's my progress so far:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/10368360@N06/3425347354/" title="Quaker Virtues, 3 months by Laura_1215, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/3425347354_1f1ab24959_m.jpg" alt="Quaker Virtues, 3 months" height="180" width="240" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:85%;"><span style="font-family:arial;"></span></span><br />Happy Stitching!Laura Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07559375000800855287noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1281862907881411791.post-88428800648574137992009-04-21T17:15:00.000-07:002009-04-22T07:56:50.524-07:00Quaker Virtues Update #1<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QZyiPlxjS8U/Se5mk9V6SJI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/2P1JZsnKIOI/s1600-h/Quaker+Virtue+009.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QZyiPlxjS8U/Se5mk9V6SJI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/2P1JZsnKIOI/s320/Quaker+Virtue+009.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327308194353662098" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QZyiPlxjS8U/Se5muMW3vYI/AAAAAAAAAGY/6nPAyshejww/s1600-h/Quaker+Virtue+011.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QZyiPlxjS8U/Se5muMW3vYI/AAAAAAAAAGY/6nPAyshejww/s320/Quaker+Virtue+011.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327308353003044226" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />At last...A Quaker Virtues update! Initially I started out stitching on the blue one, hand-dyed floss by me on 35ct flax linen. I was in love, but then along came a frog and I had to rip, rip and rip.. So, I decided to start stitching it again, but this time in my hand-dyed green floss on 35ct flax linen. I love both of them and hope to be able to finish them both.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1281862907881411791.post-52830232903858628882009-04-19T18:35:00.000-07:002009-04-19T18:35:00.797-07:00Julie's 2 month progress on QV<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4O9dQUYgwLdtmDMEfr3FijSIMqnaiKGpExPIrQukg4Zp6GlZSIlaytmkaaHWSr36f15oHPMokP28wSwd3ZmhBcAyvU-OD3PEpF8WpFxBapANs_6qkVImZ6edSdKvyfj2uqhdhz39bwAnX/s1600-h/April+17+2009+011.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326548847833012402" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4O9dQUYgwLdtmDMEfr3FijSIMqnaiKGpExPIrQukg4Zp6GlZSIlaytmkaaHWSr36f15oHPMokP28wSwd3ZmhBcAyvU-OD3PEpF8WpFxBapANs_6qkVImZ6edSdKvyfj2uqhdhz39bwAnX/s320/April+17+2009+011.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Its coming along very slowly, but progress is being made. </div><div> </div><div>Love viewing all your pictures!</div>Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16627287902591490601noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1281862907881411791.post-88968119897412761522009-04-18T05:32:00.000-07:002009-04-18T05:50:38.869-07:00Best wishes from Italy!!! :))Hi all, I'm Svetlana (Siesta), thanks to Nicole for allowing me to join the group! I love working on QV. I feel like I have spent a lot of time working on this, but don't have a lot to show. I have always appreciated what others have posted for progress, but now I have a whole different perspective. While slow going, this is a joy to work on. I have been concerned that the contrast of the silk to the linen was not great enough, but this is for our bedroom which is very muted periwinkle so I am going to keep going with this color. The words and letters will be stitched in Oatmeal Scone.</p><p>Kristin</p>Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15909135699758725182noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1281862907881411791.post-11755176418074929442009-03-16T16:31:00.001-07:002009-03-25T16:04:57.471-07:00March 14th update....
